What level of editing support do you need?

Knowing what you want from an editorial consultant isn't always easy.

Make the right first impression

  • I only make necessary markups: this avoids the risk of introducing new errors with each change; and it saves you spending more on typesetting/design amends (no one wants to input a load of commas at pre-print stage!).


  • I use clear PDF mark-ups and confident application of amends in MS Office using Track Changes, or making amends directly into your CMS.

Need your AI copy to sound less artificial?

AI tools, like ChatGPT, can save us hours of planning and drafting time, but human intelligence – or, rather 'Actual Intelligence' – is essential to build authenticity, brand voice and the subtleties of language into your content. Even ChatGPT itself recommends using a human editor to check its content.

However much or little you use AI in your writing, running the copy by a human editor is an essential step to help your writing connect with your audience. 

  • As your editorial consultant I will ensure the copy is aligned with your brand house style and ensure it reads like you, in your or your company's voice.
  • Your content will be edited and adapted to suit your industry and target audience (UK or US). Confidently using punctuation – yes, that includes en/em dashes – so that it reads as it should.
  • Your copy will be corrected and refined efficiently – ensuring your grammar is clear and accurate.

Note that I will not use AI tools to check your work without your prior knowledge and permission – your text will not be uploaded to any AI platform like Grammerly or ChatGPT without your consent. See Section 10 of my terms for more information.
